Program Description: There is an officer
assigned full-time to every high school and middle school
within the city. The officers are required to teach a minimum
of law-related
education a
semester. The officers also provide all
law enforcement
services on campus. All of the officers attend school resource
officer
training and are all
funded thru the Safe Schools grant. One
position "Police
Science Instructor"
is funded by the police department and that person is
offered at the high
school level.

Program Name: RadKids

Program Description: Kingman has 5 SRO
Officers and 1 SRO Sergeant that serve 3 State
elementary schools, 1
State junior high school, and 1 State high school. Plus
1 private elementary
school, 1 private junior high school, and 1 private high
school.
Aside from mini
anti-violence program, the Kingman Police SRO team is
trained in the RadKids
program. RadKids is a comprehensive program aimed
at, among other safety
issues, the reduction of violence. The program
premises are: "No
one has the right to hurt you"; "You do not have the right to
hurt anyone else"; "If someone does
hurt you, it is not your fault".
RadKids teaches children
to: avoid bullies; avoid violence; physical
techniques to counter
potential injuries at the hands of someone attempting to
inflict harm; escape maneuvers; and run to
safety and authority mind set.
RadKids' target audience
is 5 to 7 years of age and 8 to 10 years of age. The
"Rad" in RadKids stands for
"Resist Aggression Defensively". More

in a manner appropriate for each school. Examples:
A private elementary
school incorporated the program into the regular
curriculum; A public
elementary school that is on a 45/15 schedule offers the
program during the 15 day interim; Yet another
elementary school offers the
program during summer school.

Every SRO officer is
required to teach this program.
