     PROGRAM INFORMATION

     Program Name:           Elementary School DARE/SRO Program for City of Edgewater

     Program Description:   Provides a full time school resource officer to Lumberg and Edgewater

                                         Elementary Schools.  The SRO is in charge of implementing the DARE

                                         curriculum to both 5th and 6th grade students at both schools.  The officer

                                         conducts safety lessons for grades K through 4, implements emergency

                                         response plans, and assists in behavioral modification at both schools.  SRO

                                         is involved in two after school programs.  FAST Program at Lumberg and

                                         21st Century Program at Edgewater Elementary.  Both programs address

                                         parenting issues, substance abuse prevention, after school care and

                                         development of community partnerships through arts, culture, education, and

                                         sports.

     Other Partnerships:     The majority of the assistance currently involves Jefferson County Schools,

                                        Principals, Assistant Principals, and school social workers at Lumberg and

                                        Edgewater Elementary School.

                                        DARE curriculum which includes DARE workbooks, safety workbooks,

                                        pamphlets, audio visual aids, pencils, safety presentation cards etc.
